Call for Applications: International Winter School on Public Policy 2026, Chiang Mai, Thailand

The Public Administration Association of Nepal (PAAN) is pleased to share information about the International Winter School on Public Policy 2026, organized by the International Public Policy Association (IPPA) in collaboration with the School of Public Policy, Chiang Mai University, Thailand.

The Winter School will take place from 30 November to 4 December 2026 in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The programme offers an opportunity for students, researchers, academics, and public policy professionals to enhance their knowledge, strengthen their research skills, and engage with an international community of scholars and practitioners.

Programme Highlights

The Winter School will be conducted entirely in English and will feature a combination of specialized courses, lectures, and research workshops. Participants will benefit from 10 hours of courses, 4 hours of lectures, and 12 hours of research workshops.

The courses will be delivered by the following scholars:

  • Pobsook Chamchong, School of Public Policy, Chiang Mai University — Policy Innovation and Policy Labs: Cultivating Generative Policy Ecosystems
  • Shunsaku Komatsuzaki, Tokyo Metropolitan University — Ideation Methods for Creative Policy Design: Toward Sustainable Societies
  • Vishal Narain, Management Development Institute (MDI) — Policy-making and Implementation: Perspectives from the Global South

In addition to the courses and lectures, participants will take part in research workshops designed to facilitate discussion, exchange ideas, and receive feedback on their research or article projects from fellow participants and their selected scholar.

The programme also provides opportunities to establish international academic networks and engage with participants from diverse professional, academic, and national backgrounds.

Eligibility and Application Procedure

Interested applicants are encouraged to review the programme requirements and submit their applications before the deadline.

Applicants are required to:

  1. Log in to or create an IPPA user account.
  2. Visit the dedicated webpage for the International Winter School on Public Policy.
  3. Click the “I want to apply” button.
  4. Upload their CV and research abstract in PDF format.
  5. Indicate their preferred course(s), as required by the application form.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and selection results will be communicated progressively. Places are limited to 10 participants per course, so early application is strongly encouraged.

Registration Fees and Accommodation

The registration and accommodation fees are as follows:

  • Registration fee: €250 for the five-day programme, excluding accommodation.
  • Shared accommodation: An additional €220, covering six nights and breakfast at Kantary Hills Hotel. Shared rooms accommodate two participants and are arranged on a non-mixed-gender basis.
  • Single-room accommodation: €390, as indicated in the programme announcement.
